We’re Disney people.
I think we’ve made that clear, right? By now you should know that I have one degree of separation from Walt Disney and that Kyle and I got married at Disney. We also spent about a month total at Walt Disney World last year because we are Disney Annual Passholders.
Or Were.
We decided that this year we are going to treat the kids to a different sort of vacation, and I’m really hoping that it will be to Pixar Fest at Disneyland while it’s available between April 13 – September 3, 2018.
I have a very lucky friend who was fortunate enough to preview PixarFest before they released it to the public, and I absolutely love what she had to say about the event:
What I love the most about Pixar Fest is that it doesn’t take away from the Disneyland that I love. It’s really a sweet addition that makes you fall even more in love with the park! – Brandi Riley, Mama Knows It All
Here are ten things you CANNOT miss at PixarFest this year!
1. Paint the Night Parade
The nighttime parade with more than 1 million brilliant lights returns, this time making its way through Disney California Adventure. Becoming even more super in June, “Paint the Night” adds a new float inspired by “The Incredibles” and “Incredibles 2.”
2. Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular
This new multimedia fireworks show immerses guests into a story of friendship featuring your favorite Pixar characters with the use of projection mapping on iconic locations including Sleeping Beauty Castle, the water screens of the Rivers of America, the façade of “it’s a small world” and the buildings of Main Street, U.S.A.
3. Meet your favorite Pixar pals!
Guests may meet some of their favorite Pixar pals at Paradise Gardens in Disney California Adventure, such as Buzz Lightyear and Woody, Russell and Dug, Flik and Atta, Mike and Sulley, and Mr. and Mrs. Incredible.
4. Learn to draw your favorite Pixar characters at Animation Academy
In Disney California Adventure, guests will learn to draw their favorite Pixar characters such as Sulley, Dug, Edna Mode, Jack-Jack, Bing Bong and more with the artists at Animation Academy. Drawing classes typically occur every 30 minutes and guests may take home their art as a souvenir.
This sounds amazing, SIGN ME UP!
5. Dance & sing to memorable Pixar tunes
Disneyland Resort musicians also celebrate the theme of friendship with renditions of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from “Toy Story” in both parks. In Disney California Adventure, a zany, new seven-piece band, TripleDent Gum presents The Pixarmonic Orchestra , performs a fun-filled repertoire of songs from Pixar films.
I love dancing and singing in public, especially Disney because I’m not the only complete dork there.
6. Ride all the Pixar things!
For 20 years, Disney Parks and Pixar Animation Studios have collaborated on attractions and experiences inspired by the colorful worlds of Pixar films. Guests at the Disneyland Resort now enjoy more than a dozen experiences that immerse them in the worlds of some favorite Pixar stories, including Toy Story Mania! and Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage.
7. Eat Bologna!
No, seriously. The lovely women who presented PixarFest to us told us that the best thing to eat during the event was the Fried Bologna Sandwich called “The Carl”, inspired by Carl from “Up”. You can find it at Carnation Cafe in Disneyland.
8. Eat Yellow Snow!
At the Adorable Abominable Snowman at California Adventure, you can eat yellow snow! Don’t worry, it really is lemon flavored. It’s like Dole Whip, but lemon instead of pineapple. Are you willing to take a chance?
9. Eat Color-Changing Noodles a la Mike Wazowski
Chilled noodle salad features color-changing noodles with mint, Thai basil, shredded daikon and tofu at Lucky Fortune Cookery at California Adventure.
We were told about this delicious noodle salad that changes color once you pour the sauce on the noodles and stir, stir, stir (which you get to do yourself at the table).
10. Pixar Play Parade
For the first time, “Pixar Play Parade” makes its way through Disneyland Park. This interactive, daytime parade gets even more playful with three new story elements featuring the iconic Pixar Lamp and Ball from the original Pixar short, “Luxo Jr.,” and characters from “Up,” and “Inside Out.”
I love a good parade, and Disney knows how to do them. How exciting to have a Pixar twist on a Disneyland parade, right?
What are you most looking forward to at PixarFest in 2018?
And hey, don’t forget that Incredibles 2 hits theaters everywhere on June 15!
Have your own little PixarFest at home by seeing the movie as soon as you possibly can!
