Like all women, I’ve been on a quest to find the absolute perfect lippie for YEARS. While I enjoy my gloss, I am a sucker for a dark lip and for a bright red lip, but wearing them when you have a full day planned, or while at a theme park or a day full of meetings gets a little scary.
You know you know what I’m talking about – the pilled “all day” lipstick by hour 5, the patchy lip, the loss of pigment in the corners of your mouth, the inability to wear a gloss over your dry lips.
Take, for instance, my trip to Los Angeles in November. I was so excited to interview Lin-Manuel Miranda , so I wore my very best dark lip because it makes me feel confident. Well, by the time we got to talk to Lin, my lips felt dry and flaky and I just felt like it looked like I had tiger lips, so aside from the fact that I was already quaking in my boots to meet this dude, my lips made my entire face feel gross. It wasn’t pretty.
I wiped my lipstick off before lunch then didn’t have time to reapply before we interviewed Dwayne Johnson , so I was practically naked for that interview.
Then my friend Lee introduced me to something that has completely changed my life. Like any good lipstick, putting Lipsense by Senegence on is a bit of a process, but every step is worth it, and you seriously do NOT have to reapply for the entire day if you do it right. There was a bit of a learning curve for me because you have to swipe in only one direction to make it last all day, but let me show you a little trick I learned.
I’m used to applying dark and bright lipsticks, but this one has to be applied a little differently, and you have to make sure your lips are clean, dry, and exfoliated, which shouldn’t be a problem for those of us who exfoliate on a regular basis.
Step 1: exfoliate & dry lips well
Step 2: use a matching liner to line just around the outside of your natural lip line. This makes it easier to color in the lines so to speak.
Step 3: swipe a very thin layer of Lipsense on your top lip from outer corner to middle, then swipe another thin layer of Lipsense from the outer corner to middle of the other side of your top lip. If you have larger lips, wait 3-5 seconds for that layer to dry then do the same thing (corner to middle, corner to middle) on the inner part of your lip, making sure to get all the way to the saliva-line of your mouth.
Step 4: repeat step 3 two times on your top lip, making sure that each layer is very thin and completely dry between layers.
Step 5: repeat steps 3 & 4 on your bottom lip. On your bottom lip especially, it is very important for you to get far enough into your lip so that you have no bare lip showing.
Step 6: apply Lipsense gloss to fully dry color as needed throughout the day. Eat, drink, and be merry and enjoy perfect color all day long.
When you’re getting ready to go to bed, use an African Black Soap to remove Lipsense, or use their Ooops remover . I’ve found that Mary Kay makeup remover will remove Lipsense, but only if it is used on a cotton ball as opposed to a cotton pad, and it does take some scrubbing to get it all with that remover, as opposed to the other mentioned removers which will take it off more effortlessly.
You can order Lipsense from Lee at Hello LoveLee Makeup on Facebook . She’ll tell you all about how to use it properly, show you different colors on her LoveLee face, and allow you to order from her in-stock inventory. If you see a color you want but she doesn’t have in stock, just ask her to get it in for you and she’ll do it.
But seriously, you do NOT want to go into 2017 without this lippie. It will alter everything & you’ll never have to reapply or find the nearest bathroom or worry about lipstick on your teeth or lipstick smeared onto your cheeks and chin, or any of the other embarrassing lipstick faux pas we’ve all experienced.
